Win 2005 Virginia State Meet
The Generals Sweep For The 2nd Year In A Row

The Generals harriers swept the Virginia State meet for the second year in a row at the challenging Peak View Farms course held in rainy and muddy conditions.  Strong team efforts lead the men's team to have 6 runners earn All-State while the women had 5 runners earn All-State honors.

Men's Recap:
The Generals won the meet in convincing fashion scoring a total of 29 points. W&L's top 6 all earned All-State honors.  The 1-2 punch of senior Nathan Johnson and sophomore Alex Mahoney finished 1st and 2nd overall in 27:32 and 27:42 respectively.  Freshmen Michael Welsh finished 4th in 28:12, senior Andrew Johnson was 10th in 29:46 and sophomore Andrew Friski was 12th in 29:56 while freshmen Alex Jackson was 13th in 29:59.
Freshmen Vance Berry crossed the line in 23rd, junior David Kronenfeld finished in 31st, freshmen Anthony Ives was 35th, sophomore Steve Rivoir finished 40th, sophomore Alex Gould crossed in 50th, and Arie George was 51st.

Women's Recap:
The women won the meet with a strong team effort scoring 37 points.  W&L's top 5 runners earned All-State honors by placing in the top 14.  Freshmen Jackie Burns led the charge winning the meet running away from the field in 24:49 (56 seconds ahead of the second place finisher).  Fellow freshmen Becca Taylor crossed the line 4th in 26:06.  Senior Mary Christopher was 7th in 26:21, junior Jenny Ratzel finished 11th in 26:59.  Rounding out the top five was senior Liz Twentyman crossing the line in 14th with a time of 27:10. 
Freshmen Elizabeth Webb finished 23rd, right behind her was sophomore Jessica Buckingham in 24th, crossing the line in 30th was freshmen Regina Mills, freshmen Jennifer Janes was 33rd, senior Sarah Williamson was 35th, freshmen Sarah Ratzel finished 40th, senior Ashley Brown was 48th, sophomore Nicole Merrullo was 51st, senior Megan Ward crossed the line in 54th.
