Men Win Generals Cross Country Invitational Women Finish Second
The cross country teams kicked off the 2007 season with the annual Generals Invitational held on the challenging Dick Miller Cross Country Course. The men finished first out of 13 teams while the women's placed 2nd.
The men were led by junior Michael Welsh who ran away from the field winning by nearly 40 seconds with a time of 28:39. Classmate Vance Berry placed 4th with a time of 29:26. Junior Anthony Ives placed 10th with a time of 30:23. Freshmen Joseph Stusek crossed the line in 15th for the Generals running 30:44 and sophomore Ben Stutts rounded out the top five for W&L with at 16th place showing (30:45).
The women used a 30 second 1 thru 4 split to place 2nd. Led by sophomore Kat Telfeyan with a 6th place finish running 25:29. Classmate Dorothy Todd placed 9th with a time of 25:39. Freshmen Christine Balistreri placed 12th for the W&L running 25:59 and Junior Becca Taylor was 13th crossing the line in 26:00. Freshmen Katherine Fenwick was the 5th runner placing 19th in 26:59.
