Liberty On Track Open

The Generals headed down to Liberty University, the site of the Indoor ODAC Championship meet for the On Track Open.  The meet featured Division 1, 2 and 3 schools.  Among D3 schools, the Generals combined to Talley up 4 first place finishes, 25-top five finishes and 1 school record.

 

For the men, sophomore Drew Martin and freshmen Billing ton led the way.  Martin placed 2nd (D3) in the Pole Vault with a leap of 14'3".  Billington continued his strong initial campaign with a 2nd place Shot Put showing with a toss of 12.10m and a throw of 13.79m in the 35lb Weight Throw.  Sophomore Michael Welsh placed 3rd among D3 runners in the 5,000m with a time of 15:48.  Junior Marshall French crossed the line 4th in the 400m (53.76).  The 4x400m Relay of Chip McCoy, Brian Bondurant, Matt Harrison and Marshall French finished 3rd among D3 teams (3:38.80).

Freshmen Maggie Sutherland led the charge with a 1st place finish among D3 athletes in the High Jump.  Her clearance of 5'3" set a new school record.  She also placed 2nd int he 60 hurdles crossing the line in 9.83.  Sophomore Becca Taylor was 1st in the Mile with a time of 5:34.13, she also came back to finish 4th in the 800m (2:34.61).  Freshmen Kat Telfeyan was the 1st D3 finisher in the 3,000m running 10:51.58.  Classmates Dorothy Todd (2:28.43) and Lizz Krausnick (2:31.02) crossed the line 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 800m.  The 4x400m team of Tara Hildenbrand, Sallie Armstrong, Stephanie Stelter and Maggie Sutherland finished 2nd in 4:21.55
