2008 NCAAChampionships

Juniors Stacy Doornbos and Jessica Shaw Earn All-American Honors At The NCAA National Track & Field Championships Hosted By The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

 

Doornbos put together an all-around heptathlon performance to place 3rd at the national meet.  Her score of 4,737 points set a new school record.  She ran the 100 hurdles in 15.18 (to tie the current school record), High Jumped 5'2.5", Threw the shot put 33'3.75", and ran a 25.60 in the 200m.  On Day two she Long Jumped 17'4.25", Threw the Javelin 87'3" and finished it all off with a 2:24.16 800m run.  In 2007 Doornbos placed 14th at the NCAA meet and made the biggest jump in the field to place 3rd this season.  She was also named NCAA South/Southeast Regional Field Athlete Of The Year.

Shaw in her first ever NCAA meet placed 5th to earn All-American honors in the 5,000m.  Her time of 16:56.78.  She broke her own school record in the process.  The race went out conservative with Shaw putting her self in great position.  As the laps got faster she continue to run in the lead pack all the way to the line.
