2008 Marietta Open

The Generals started of their first full indoor meet this weekend at the Marietta Open in Ohio.  Six first places finishes and 16 top three performances highlighted the meet.

 

For the men sophomore Billy Billington led the way winning both the Shot Put (45-5.75) and the 35lb weight throw (48-2.25).  Junior Vance Berry placed 2nd in the Mile crossing the line in 4:33.67.  Junior Sean Hurdiss placed in both the 55m (6.92) and the 300m (38.51).  Freshmen Jeff Giordano also placed in the 55m with a time of 6.77.  Sophomore Brian Bondurant placed 4th in the Triple Jump with a mark of 39-5.25.  Anthony Ives and Alex Jackson went 2-3 in the 5,000m  Ives ran 16:22.42 and Jackson ran 16:30.97.

The womens meet started off with a big performance from junior Elizabeth Webb as she won the 5,000m running a PR time of 18:01.18.  Classmate Becca Taylor won both the Mile (5:24.90) and the 1,000m (3:19.38).  Sophomore Dorothy Todd finished 2nd in both the Mile (5:33.38) and the 800m (2:29.02). Junior Stacy Doornbos won the 300m with a time of 42.95 and also placed 3rd in the 55 hurdles running 9.25.  Sophomore Maggie Sutherland was 2nd in the High Jump clearing 5-0 and was 3rd in teh 55 hurdles running 9.40.  Freshmen Summer Lollie placed 2nd in the 55m (7.66) and was 3rd in the Long Jump (4.77m) and 5th in the Triple Jump (9.79m).
