Cross Country Teams Place Fourth At NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships
Nathan Johnson advances to compete at the NCAA National Championships
The Generals travelled to Arkansas to compete in the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships.
Women's Recap:
The women had a very strong team performance to earn their highest team finish in school history placing 4th out of 22 teams. The women were just two points out of third place. Three Generals earned All-Regional honors.
Freshmen Jackie Burns lead the way finishing 11th overall crossing the line of the 6k course in 23:06.2. She finished one spot shy of advancing to the NCAA National championship meet. Senior Mary Christopher had one of the strongest races of her career placing 25th in a time of 23:39.5. Sophomore Lindsay Erickson finished 26th in 23:39.9. All three earned All-Region honors by finishing in the top 35. Freshmen Becca Taylor finished one spot shy of All-Region placing 36th overall in24:07.2. Sophomore Jenny Ratzel finished 48th overall in 24:30.1. Senior Liz Twentyman crossed the line in 64th with a time of 25:16.2. Freshmen Elizabeth Webb ran a 25:54.7 to finish 85th.
Men's Recap:
The men finished 4th out of 18 teams and were just 9 points out of third with three runners earning All-Region honors. Senior Nathan Johnson placed 3rd overall to earn a trip to the NCAA National Championships for the second year in a row. Johnson ran the 8k course in 25:11.4. Sophomore Alex Mahoney used a strong finish to place 6th in a time of 25:35.7. Freshmen Michael Welsh ran 26:25.2 to place 29th. All three earned All-Region honors by placing in the top 35. Freshmen Vance Berry crossed the line in 48th with a time of 26:58.6. Sophomore Andrew Friski was 56th in 27:13.2. Freshmen Alex Jackson finished 66th with a time of 27:37 and senior Andrew Johnson was 75th crossing in 27:50.9.
