2006 Indoor ODAC Track & Field Championships
The Generals Track & Field team had one of its best performances in school history at the 06 championship meet. 7 Conference champions including two relays were crowned as well as 22 All-Conference performances!
Women's Recap: The women finished 2nd place in the meet with their highest point total ever (106 points). The women won both relays contested at the meet. The Distance Medley Relay team of Elizabeth Webb, Diana Dozier, Lauren Morea and Jackie Burns earned championship honors with a time of 13:34.95. The 4x400m relay team of Caroline Davis, Tara Hildenbrand, Sara Behmerwohld, and Stacy Doornbos also claimed the title winning in record fashion. Their time of 4:08.90 set a new school record, ODAC meet record, and All-Time ODAC record. Stacy Doornbos also claimed individual titles winning the Long Jump (17'4.25") and the Triple Jmp (34'9.5") which broke her own school record leap. She also brought home 2nd place finishes in the 400m (59.84) and the 200m (27.01) and 4th place finishes in the 55m (7.69) and High Jump (5'0.25"). Mary Christopher came back from placing 2nd in the mile (5:32.12) to win the 5,000m championship setting a new meet record in 19:55.33. Also recording scoring performance were: Elizabeth Webb -800m 3rd (2:31.22) Sara Behmerwohld -55H 4th (9.21) Liz Brandler -PV 4th (10'5.25) Caroline Davis -400m 4th (62.31) Becca Taylor -Mile 4th (5:38.65) Tara Hildenbrand -400m 6th (63.71) Caroline Davis -55H 6th
Men's Recap: The men finished 4th with 67points just 3 points out of 3rd place. The 67 points was the highest point total in 11 years. Three individual champions and an All-Conference Relay led the way. Winning championship crowns were Vance Berry in the Mile. He crossed the line in 4:30.11. After the mile he came back and finished 6th in the 800m. Alex Mahoney came back from placeing 3rd in the Mile to win the 5,000m in a time of 15:54.77. Ryan Edge won a closely contested High Jump competition clearing 6'4" to take the crown. Edge also place 6th in the 55H (9.23). The Distance Medley Relay team of Steve Rivoir, Chip McCoy, Robbie Varipapa and Alex Jackson earned All-ODAC honors by placing second with a time of 10:55.52. The 4x400m relay team of Will Holliday, Chip McCoy, Wilson Robinson and Marshall French placed 3rd just missing the school record running 3:31.50. Drew Martin placed 3rd in the Pole Vault setting a new PR clearing 14'6.25" Peter Martinez finished 4th in the High Jump clearing 6'0" Earning in 5th place in the 5,000m was Michael Welsh with a time of 16:26.32. Larry Clark also finished 5th in the 55H in 9.10. Alex Jackson was 6th in the Mile after coming back from the DMR to cross the line in 4:49.79.
