*** ABOUT THE CLINIC ***
The 2005 Thrower's Weekend is a dynamic opportunity you can’t miss!! A world renowned staff will be in Lexington. This years Learn-By-Doing Clinic is for both the athlete and the coach. We have put together a very experienced and knowledgeable staff with a tremendous amount of coaching and competitive experience. This weekend will be a very intense and information filled two days. There will be extensive instruction on throwing technique, and there will be discussions on weight lifting, plyometrics, medicine ball drills, and other topics directly related to throwing. Athletes and coaches in attendance will have ample opportunity to learn by doing and ask questions concerning their events.

Coach Jeff Gorski
USA Track & Field
National Javelin Development Chair
Coach Gorski is a renowed Javelin and Throws specialist. He served as the Throws Coach at the University of North Caolina for 8 years. Coach Gorski also founded Klub Keihas, an organization that would support and promote the throwing events, especially the javelin. Coach Gorski also founded the American JavFest in 1999 and is a contributing author for Long and Strong Throwers Journal and ThrowFarther.org
Dr. Robert Sing
Author “The Dynamics of the Javelin Throw”
Renowned Javelin Thrower, Coach and Author
Dr. Sing was a contributing author of the USA Track & Field Coaching Manual.
He is considered an educated, articulate and dynamic speaker! Dr. Sing has become very popular on the lecture circuit concerning medical topics and the weight events.
Dr. Sing was the 1974 NCAA III National Champion in the Javelin and boasts a personal best throw of 268’7”
Coach Carrie Lane
Throws Coach, University of Virginia
Coach Lane, the United States Track Coaches Association 2004 Mondo Women's National Assistant Throws Coach of the Year for NCAA Division I track & field, previously served as an assistant coach for five years at Coastal Carolina University. Lane also coached senior Amber Campbell to five NCAA All-America certificates, including a third-place finish in the 20-pound weight throw at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and a third place finish at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials. Campbell set the American collegiate record in the 20# weight throw and tied the American collegiate record in the hammer. Lane also coached freshman Thomas Jordan who advanced to the NCAA Outdoor championships in the javelin throw, the only freshman in the country to qualify for the national championships in the javelin.
During her stint at Coastal Carolina, seven of Lane's athletes set Big South conference records in the men's and women's throws. She has coached her throwers to five All-American honors, five NCAA Regional qualifying honors, and five Big South Field Athlete of the Year honors

Coach Mike Bozeman
Virginia Military Institute
Coach Bozeman, the Head Track & Field Coach at VMI has 34 years of coaching experience. Formerly an assistant coach at the University of Florida, he has coached at every level. To his credit Coach Bozeman has guided three high school athletes to All-American status, 12 collegiate athletes have earned All-American awards. He has also had the privilege to coach two Olympic athletes and 20 Southern Conference Champions. Coach Bozeman has also been a leader in decathlon development in the U.S and has led U.S squads to international competitions in Cuba, Japan and Germany.
Coach Zach Scott
Virginia Military Institute
Scott comes to VMI after an eight-year stint at James W. Robinson Secondary in Fairfax, VA. As a Throws coach at Robinson with head track coach Jeremy Workman, Scott developed a 7- time AAA Indoor and Outdoor State Champion Men Shot and Discus athlete and coached All-American Men and Women athletes in Shot, Discus and Hammer.
Scott was an All-Southern Conference athlete at VMI in the Shot, Discus and Hammer and a member of two of Coach Bozeman’s Southern Conference Championship teams.
Coach John Tucker
Washington and Lee University
As the Throws coach for the generals Coach Tucker has produced 23 Conference champions and countless All-Conference performers. Active in the sport, he was the USATF national masters pentathlon champion '00, 3 time all American in the javelin (after age 40), Coach Tucker is a USA Track & Field Level II certified throws coach.
