2008 Lafayette-Rider Invite
@ The New York City Armory

Records Were Shattered At the 08 Lafayette-Rider Invite Held In The Historic New York City Armory.  The Generals Competed With Over 40 Teams and Had Eight Top 10 Finishes And Broke 7 School Records.

Junior Elizabeth Webb continued her strong season as she was the 1st D3 finisher in the Mile crossing the line in 5:03.83 breaking her own school and conference record.  Her time also qualified her for the NCAA national championships.  Webb came back to placed 2nd D3 in the 800m setting a new school record in the 800m (2:20.46). Junior Stacy Doornbos was the top D3 finisher in the Long Jump with a mark of 17'1.5".  Doornbos also placed 4th in the 400m breaking her own school record running 59.58.  She came to then break her record in the 200m crossing the line in 26.77.  About 5 heats later, teammate Summer Lollie ran 26.70 to edge Doornbos and take the school record.  Lollie also broke her record in the 60m (8.22).  Sophomore Dorothy Todd ran a strong PR race in the Mile when she crossed the line in 5:18.09 to placed 5th D3.  Becca Taylor also ran a solid indoor PR in the 800m with a time of 2:25.68.  The meet was closed out with a solid season best 4x400m relay.  Sallie Armstrong, Tara Hildenbrand, Stephanie Stelter and Stacy Doornbos teamed up to run 4:09.50.

Sophomore Billy Billington had a breakout day when he broke the 32 year old school record in the 35lb weight throw.  His toss of 54' made him the top D3 finisher and narrowly missed the NCAA qualifying mark.  Junior Vance Berry had a PR in the Mile of 4:26.65.  Freshmen Jeff Giordano broke the school record in the 200m running 23.13.  Junior Michael Welsh had a strong PR race in the 3,000m running 8:55.10.  Classmate Alex Jackson also PRed in the 5k running 16:16.54
